5 Habits to Improve Your Skin

The first thing that people notice about you is your skin.  So having a good regimen is important. There are countless products that claim to promote a flawless complexion. However, there is no such thing as instant results. An effective skin care regimen is one that is done consistently over time, before results begin to show.

Avoid the Sun

Try to avoid constant sun exposure and consider a self-tanning lotion. Exposure to the sun can lead to early signs of aging. Back in the day, tanning lotions had the tendency to turn the skin orange, but that is no longer the case. Improvements have helped to give self-tanning products a more natural, streak-free look.

Exfoliate

Exfoliate. Exfoliate. Exfoliate. This helps to remove old skin cells, debris, and particles from your skin. It also exposes the healthy cells and rids your body of old cells.

Moisturize

Cracked or dry skin can be very unbearable. The list of culprits that can cause your skin to be dry is a long one, from daily bathing habits (hot showers and rubbing yourself dry with a towel), winter weather, and perhaps a lack of natural oils in your skin as you age.

Consider using natural oils as they tend to be pure and can help restore skin’s sheen and protective barrier. It’s a good idea to keep things simple when it comes to beauty care, especially for people with allergies.

Better Lip Balm

If your lips tend to become chapped in the winter months or windburnt at other times, using a natural lip balm or lipstick will help to protect the lips from nature’s worst. Avoid lip balms with sweeteners as it promotes you to lick your lips thus keeping them chapped.

Monitor Ingredients

Avoid using soaps and detergents that have harsh ingredients. If possible, use a natural moisturizing soap. These have the tendency to leave residual moisture versus stripping the skin of oils.
