5 Tips for Healthy Winter Skin

Cold weather and dry air can be harsh on your skin. Here are 5 tips to help keep you moisturized throughout the winter.


Use a Humidifier

Whipping wind and dry, indoor heat zaps away moisture. A humidifier can help relieve dry skin by adding moisture into the air. Some models even allow you to add essential oils, for added relaxation.


Keep Your Skin Moisturized

Even though your skin is less exposed during the winter, it’s important to regularly apply a moisturizer. Having a protective barrier in the form of a heavy lotion or cream will aid your skin in keeping its elasticity and prevent dry skin.


Take Flaxseed Oil

Flaxseed oil is rich in omega 3 fatty acids and makes a great salad dressing that’s good for your skin too. It’s been shown to increase skin smoothness and hydration while reducing skin sensitivity and roughness.


Use a Gentler Exfoliator

Buff away the dry dead skin cells with an exfoliator that won’t irritate your already sensitive skin. Products that use jojoba beads, which are smooth, do a great job of gently sloughing away dead skin.
